Roman Novitzky, the Stuttgart Ballet's newly appointed Artist in Residence, is creating his first major work for the opera house stage on behalf of ballet director Tamas Detrich. 

Born in Slovakia, he is a storyteller who uses modern choreographies to look beneath the surface, who profoundly and reflectively translates his thoughts and feelings into dance. 

 

'The Place of Choice' is inspired by Dante's 'Divine Comedy'. In this new piece, Novitzky examines a question that currently concerns us all as a society: Where is humanity headed? To paradise or to hell? Who will show us the way? And: Do we even have it in our hands?

 

Following the previous successful collaborations in UNDER THE SURFACE, IMPULS and REFLECTION/S, Yaron Abulafia will collaborate with Roman For the fourth time, and design the Scenography and the Lighting of this upcoming creation.
